Set up email on iPhone or Android

Use the device’s matching account-provider option whenever available. It can select the right authorization process and reduce errors caused by manually entering server details.

Before adding the account

Confirm that the address opens in official webmail and that you can complete its current verification method. Check whether the mailbox moved to another service. The name on the address may remain unchanged after a migration.

Add and test

  1. Open the email app’s account setup and select the correct provider.
  2. Complete the official sign-in window yourself and review the requested access.
  3. For manual setup, use only current provider settings and supported encryption.
  4. Send a test message and check receiving, sent mail and folder synchronization.

If messages are delayed

Check synchronization frequency, background-data restrictions and the app’s account status. Battery-saving settings may delay background checks. A browser mailbox that also fails points to an account or service issue rather than just phone settings.

Before removing an existing account, confirm that important mail, drafts and contacts are stored or backed up where you expect.
