Email not syncing across devices

Compare the website with the affected device before removing an account. This protects locally stored messages and helps identify whether the failure belongs to the mailbox or the app.

Use a small comparison test

  1. Open official webmail and note the newest message time.
  2. Send a short message from another address you control.
  3. Check whether it arrives on the website, then in the app.
  4. Check the app’s synchronization schedule, connection status and account authorization.

Check folders, not only Inbox

Search Archive, Spam, Trash and custom folders. A rule may move messages before the app displays them. With IMAP, read status and deletions can synchronize across devices. With POP, a message downloaded elsewhere may not remain on the server, depending on retention settings.

Before rebuilding the account

Back up local folders and confirm which messages exist on the server. Removing the account can remove cached or locally stored data. Update the app and complete any official reauthorization first.

If webmail also fails, check the provider’s official service information and account-recovery options rather than reinstalling every device.
