What to prepare before contacting email support

A clear problem description saves time and helps route the issue to the right place. You can collect useful diagnostic information without sharing private messages or account credentials.

Not affiliated with or endorsed by the providers discussed

Write down four things

  1. The provider and address ending, without publishing the full address unnecessarily.
  2. The device, operating system, email app and app version.
  3. The exact error and when the problem began.
  4. Whether official webmail can sign in, receive and send.

Choose the right support route

Account ownership, recovery decisions, subscriptions and provider billing belong with the original provider. App setup, folder mapping and general device troubleshooting may be suitable for independent assistance.

Protect your information

Remove passwords, recovery codes, message content and unnecessary personal information from screenshots. Never send a full mailbox export for an initial diagnostic question.

Explain changes made just before the issue began, such as an app update, a password change or a completed mailbox migration. Ask for the proposed scope and any fee before agreeing to further work.

Explore provider-specific guides for official configuration references.
