Start with the right service

Comcast.net email accounts can be at different stages of the move to Yahoo Mail. Configuration depends on whether your mailbox has actually moved. Treat unsolicited migration messages cautiously and begin at the official Xfinity website.

Configuration quick reference

Reference What to check
Connection and access Migration-dependent. Use Yahoo settings only after the Comcast.net mailbox has completed its move.
Account authority Use the original provider for identity verification, account recovery, eligibility and billing.

Official reference: Yahoo information for Comcast.net moves. Check the provider’s current instructions before changing settings. Reviewed October 14, 2026.

Work through the problem

  1. Sign in through Xfinity’s official email route and check the migration information for your account.
  2. If the move is complete, sign in successfully at Yahoo at least once before reconfiguring a mail app.
  3. Use Yahoo’s migration guide for the updated server and app-password requirements after the move.
  4. If your mailbox has not moved, follow Xfinity’s current instructions for that account instead.

Keep a useful diagnostic record

Note the exact error, the application and version, and whether the same account works on the provider’s website. Record whether sending, receiving or sign-in fails. Remove private message content from screenshots before sharing them.

If you use POP or local folders, preserve those messages before removing an account. A new account configuration may not recover data stored only on the old device.

Choose your next step

For an app-only problem, compare authorization and settings with the official reference above. For an account restriction or failed identity check, continue with the original provider. Independent assistance cannot bypass these controls.
